The Appalachian Learning Initiative conducts research on adult literacy, numeracy, infectious disease, substance use disorders, public health, and access to public services, such as healthcare, nutrition assistance, adult education, housing, and medical treatment—all issues that disproportionately impact adults living in Appalachia.
